The star of Ghost, Sister Act and The Color Purple and current co-host of The View was mum on details, but all about the cannabis lifestyle brand is expected to be revealed as part of a cover piece on Goldberg in the inaugural edition of Black Cannabis Magazine, a quarterly publication set to launch (of course) on Apr. 20.

Chris Webber on his $100 million cannabis fund: ‘We’re trying to change the industry to have it look like America’
The digital and print venture from Hazey Taughtme will highlight the contributions of Black, Indigenous and people of colour across the weed industry by exploring all facets of cannabis culture, community and commerce, whether related to professional sports, celebrities entrepreneurs, politics, music, fashion and more, according to the magazine.
The magazine is likely to have no shortage of Black entrepreneurs to write, with people like Method Man,Xzibit, Wyclef Jean, Al Harrington, Andruw Jones, Chris Webber and Marshawn Lynch, among many others, adding their profile to the weed industry.
Calling it an honour to grace the very first cover of the magazine, Academy Award winner Goldberg, 65, says she looks forward to having a “new publication focused on starting conversations and covering issues that educate, entertain and inspire people of colour in the cannabis community.”
The magazine “is on a mission to shed light on the positive impact of legal marijuana on the global marketplace and the role people of color are playing to educate, advocate, and help rewire long-outdated beliefs and social mores surrounding this plant,” adds Taughtme, who co-founded and co-owns cannabis brand, Laze.
Named after Goldberg’s mother and brother, the Emma & Clyde brand — which includes a range of edibles, pre-rolls, flower and accessories for medical and recreational consumers alike — will launch in California, where both medicinal and recreational cannabis is legal.

Goldberg’s previous venture in the cannabis space, Whoopi & Maya, ended early last year. Goldberg resigned from the company’s Board of Directors amid friction with her now-former business partner.
Up and running for several years, the company offered four products: cannabis-infused cocoa, an herbal tincture, an infused lavender bath soak and a body balm. They sought to help reduce menstrual pain, inflammation and stress.
The company was launched in 2016 to offer safe, natural relief for period pain through the miracle of medical cannabis. “When I was younger, I realized it helped my cramps, and I’ve had a good relationship with it since,” Goldberg told Forbes in 2019.
“It became clear to everybody that Whoopi and Maya wanted a divorce,” co-founder and board member Rich Cusick told CNN at the time. “I am very proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to moving ahead with other projects in the market,” Page Six quoted her as saying last year.
No word yet on whether or not there are plans for Emma & Clyde to expand beyond California to other U.S. states in the future, according to Page Six.
California also served as a recent launch point for Seth Rogen’s Houseplant lifestyle brand, with select cannabis strains and “lovely housegoods like ashtrays, lighters, and YES, even ceramics,” available, Rogen tweeted.
Whoopi & Maya – medical cannabis
We’re deeply saddened to tell you that Whoopi & Maya will no longer continue operation.
In 2016, we launched with an urgent mission: to offer safe, natural relief for period pain through the miracle of medical cannabis. We proved there’s a market for this medicine and it’s been our joy to offer this miraculous relief to our treasured customers. It has been our privilege to serve the community.
Though we’ve all come a long way, there’s far more to be achieved. This is simply the end of a single chapter in a larger story, one that we invite you to continue.
Many people prefer to buy cannabis as a means of relaxation. But as the drug is illegal in many countries, it can be difficult for those who want to purchase it legally. To make matters worse, as marijuana becomes more popular and accepted as a recreational and medicinal substance, prices continue to rise as well as availability (especially where you live).
